What's Meditation For?

It's for training the Monkey or the Elephant depending on which metaphor you like.

It trains the monkey by letting you practice:

  • Being Present - you are here and it is now and you know that.
  • Remembering - …that you're supposed to be watching your breath when your mind has stopped doing that
  • Acceptance - accepting that you forgot to watch your breath…
  • Non-Judgement - …but knowing that's not good/or bad, it's just a thing that happened
  • Letting Go - let the go of the distraction, the thought will want to be finished, don't.
  • Beginning Again - start over
