What should you take pride in?

A list of things you should be proud of:

• Your actions, when they are skillful.

A list of things you should be ashamed of:

• Your actions, when they are unskillful and you should have known better.

Certainly you shouldn't be proud of your race. You didn't choose that or do anything to earn it, you were just born that way. Your hair and skin color and looks and lots of other things are all products of genetics and you didn't have anything to do with those, you just got lucky or unlucky. You shouldn't feel pride, or shame, about anything that are, only for things

I suppose it's also fine to be proud of the actions of others but that's more congratulations than pride.
