Tiffany and Roland

In chapter 14 of The Wee Free Men Roland visits Tiffany and attempts an apology for everyone assuming that he saved her when it was actually the reverse. She warns him that when he's Baron she'll be watching and he says, nicely that she shouldn't talk to him like that, so she demonstrates her “magic” and things continue go downhill from there. She uses fear to manipulate him and I think that's very unskillful of her. She's nine so we can forgive her, but what would a more skillful conversation have looked like?
